Style 825 is the name for the two styles I called "Vanguard", because they both look like an older, tougher version of Style 824 ("Pepperbot"). The "Vanguard I" version of this mill has a Peugeot grinder with a retaining band. Its pivot point is hidden below the bottom of the "waist;" in the "Vanguard II" version, the pivot point is the top of the waist band. There is a slight difference in height, and a subtle difference in geometry on the bottom section. In addition to the band, these two can be told apart because the "Vanguard I" has more salt holes, including one in the middle (9 on my mill), versus "Vanguard II"'s 6 holes.

I'm guessing that the "Vanguard" was too costly to produce in its original form. The geometry of "Vanguard II" features less curves, and no knife edges where the craftsmen would have to worry about the wood chipping.
