This is the first ring fill type, and consists of two black plastic rings. Both have holes through them, and the top ring rotates on top of the bottom stationary one.

This style has a much larger stationary assembly, instead of the simple ring used with the Peugeot grinding mechanism. It generally has a circular hole, but may have an oblong one, depending on its particular vintage.

This style is much like the last version of the above mill. The hole is always oblong, and the markings on it typically indicate Thailand as a country of origin. In the sample picture to the right, no designer is mentioned, typical of later (and non-Quistgaard) designs.
[edit] Comparison
This picture shows the disassembly of the ring fill with the Peugeot mechanism, as well as the partial disassembly of the plastic grinder fill. The rings on the Peugeot grinder are a press fit - they'll come off when pried gently. The plastic grinder ring snaps onto the assembly; much more force is needed to remove it. This picture also shows what the Peugeot mechanism mill looks like with their rings off (or lost, as was the case in a Phillips Screwdriver auction (130204223292)).
